How You Can Help
You can be a voice for children in Minnesota by becoming a Volunteer Child Advocate or a Friend of Safe Passage for Children.
Our Volunteer Child Advocates lobby state and county officials for improvements to child welfare laws, funding, and practices. The minimum time commitment is 8 hours annually. The key responsibilities are to:
Attend training for legislative visits through webinars or on-site sessions
Email or call legislators to encourage them to pass key legislation
Meet with state senators and representatives and county commissioners, and
Other special projects
Friends of Safe Passage for Children receive our weekly “ebrief”, a blog that provides regular insights and updates on developments in child protection and foster care both in Minnesota and nationally. Friends are also invited to educational events, our annual fundraiser and to donate through events such as Give to the Max Day.
